DirtTwister's SX - Round 3
This is round 3 in the DirtTwister's SX series of tracks. I will be releasing the rest of the series during the month of January. I started it last March and got too busy to finish them. I've been working on rounds 2 thru 5 off and on for the last 9 months. Round 5 will finish up the series and it is a replica of the 1990 SX race in Foxboro, MA. I was able to make a replica of the 1990 race thanks to Mark (RST_Smith13) who read my comments on my track New England SX, sent me an e-mail, and then provided me with a video tape of the 1990 race.
I've had a lot of fun with this track. Starting with my last SX track I have started to attempt to do some kind of barrier between the dirt and the grass. My last one was a blue tarp and this one is my attempt at clear plastic. It's not easy to achieve what you want when MCM 2 throws those dots all over your textures. I might try a cement floor on my next one.
Don't be afraid to use your brakes on this track. I have attempted to make it where the faster you go the more that you are required to use your brakes. You can get up to speed on this track fairly easily but, hopefully, you can't maintain it. It is risky to make the finish line jump flat out. If you do you will need to land in the triples that follow. You can do it but it is risky. The deeper that you jump into them the more speed you have and the tougher the 1st turn will be. There are several other sections like that, especially the straight with the long giant table top. It is possible to clear the entire table top. To do it though you have to carry speed, speed that will get you either on the next turn or the turn after. If you land right before the last jump on the big table top you will need to get on the brakes hard so that you don't overshoot the turn or land on the flat. Remember that you can pull back on the stick to make your brakes more effective. Also be sure to go into the garage and make your brakes more sensitive.
I favor landing so that you can use the next to last jump on the big table top. You can then triple into the turn and easily triple the last triple before the finish line. I also drag a little brake up the face of the finish line jump so that I can double. I then try to take the triple as low as I can so that I can make a tight inside turn on the 1st turn.
I hope you enjoy.
